E7: Bing Bombs Big Time, Local SEO is Thriving, Citation Consistency

we are not bringing Bing back big time anymore :(

Local SEOs are spoiled because Google is smart.

It can parse through your business information online and make sure your Google Business Profile is accurate, even if some of your citations are not up to date. This is part of why citation consistency was declared “dead” a few years ago.

However, AI is not smart. At least not when it comes to local search.

Local AI results are often useless because LLMs pull business information from obscure listings that the business isn’t even aware of (I just heard about a case like this from Matthew Forzan).

This is why it’s important to make sure your business info is consistent across all of your listings.

The good news is, ChatGPT can help you find your obscure listings. Claire and I explain how in this week’s podcast episode, plus:

  • New Bing Places for Business

  • Why Local SEO is Thriving in the AI-first Search Era (Search Engine Land)

  • What Google’s num=100 Change Means for SEO Data (Noah Learner)

  • Ranking in Local SEO: The One Signal Google Trusts Most (Claudia Tomina)
